What to wear for Padel Tennis?

For Men

When stepping onto the court, comfort and functionality are key:

Tops: lightweight sweat-wicking materials are the best.

Bottoms: Choose shorts that allow for a full range of motion. Look for options with pockets to hold balls during the game - no one likes it when they constantly have to feed the server balls each serve.

Footwear: While the clothing may seem quite standard - you're probably thinking I can just wear my gym kit - proper shoes are non-negotiable. Padel-specific shoes offer the best grip and support for a padel court surface. If you're just starting out and are unsure if you want to commit to the best sport in the world, tennis or squash shoes will be fine. What we would say though is avoid running shoes, as they lack the lateral support needed for padel.

For Women

Comfort and style go hand-in-hand on the court:

Tops: Breathable cute vest tops or t-shirts made from moisture-wicking materials will help keep you cool.

Bottoms: Skirts with built-in shorts (skorts), leggings, or shorts are all great options as long as they don't restrict movement. Like with the men’s clothing - this all sounds very normal, an unnecessary extra - but you will be surprised by how life changing ball pockets are,

Footwear: Similar to men's footwear, padel-specific shoes are ideal. Tennis or squash shoes are fine for beginners, but running shoes should be avoided.

Footwear: The Foundation of Your Game

Wearing the right shoes can significantly impact your performance and prevent injuries. Here's what to look for:

Grip:

Shoes with a herringbone or omni sole pattern provide the best traction on padel courts. Padel courts are sandier than the average tennis court and a completely different surface to squash - the grip on padel shoes are made specifically for this surface.

Support:

Look for shoes that offer good lateral support to accommodate the quick side-to-side movements in padel.

Comfort:

Cushioned insoles and breathable materials will keep your feet comfortable during extended play - for an added extra take a look at padel socks if you want to really step up your game.
